This investigation of the nature of western LBK settlements is based on a catalogue of archaeological and findspot evidence from six study areas in north-western continental Europe, including the Netherlands, Bylany, Cologne and Paris. Birkenhagen's thesis compares and contrasts evidence from each area, particularly houses, building materials and graves. Much of the data is presented in tables.
